…and why you need to realize you’re wonderful
Let me tell you about a woman who started working with me recently. When I first saw her I thought she was very nice looking and as I got to know her—flaws first, because that’s the way it goes in therapy—I got a sense that she actually was probably a pretty terrific person.
But she was in a terrible place.
It seems that she’s in a bad marriage to a man with whom she’s incompatible and who doesn’t know how to treat her right. But she’s very young and there are no kids, so there doesn’t seem to be any reason not to move on and find someone who can give her what she needs.
I asked her to give me reasons to stay in the marriage. She mentioned that she was afraid that no one else would want her.
